Lighting the Path to Healing and Hope

No Child Waits for Hope

Community Highlights

A Year of Light and Growth

Happy Anniversary, A Child’s Light!
October marked one year in our Downingtown location at 257 W. Uwchlan Avenue, and what an incredible year it has been. From expanding partnerships to increasing therapy access for children, we’re proud to be part of a community that believes in healing and hope.

Coffee with a Cop – Building Bridges in Our Communities

September 19 – East Whiteland
A huge thank-you to Lieutenant Tricia Doyle of the East Whiteland Police Department for joining us at September’s Coffee with a Cop! Lieutenant Doyle, a recognized expert in cases involving children, shared invaluable insight into what happens when cases of child abuse and trauma come forward — and why early, trauma-informed therapy is so critical. We are deeply grateful for her time, wisdom, and dedication to protecting children and helping our community understand how we can all make a difference.
Together, we can ensure that no child waits for hope.

October 17 – Coatesville
A heartfelt thank-you to Lieutenant Ollis of the Coatesville Police Department for joining us at Coffee with a Cop. During the event, we had an invaluable conversation about how law enforcement and community organizations can work hand-in-hand to better serve the youth of Coatesville. His insight, experience, and dedication help strengthen the support network for children and families facing challenges, ensuring that vulnerable youth have the guidance, protection, and resources they need to thrive.

Each month, we welcome new officers and community members to strengthen understanding and collaboration.

Community Collaboration & Gratitude

We were honored to have had our Founder & Executive Director, Leslie Holt, invited to participate in a speaker panel alongside Camphill Soltane, Brandywine Valley Active Aging, and Safe Harbor of Chester County to discuss the challenges and needs facing our community.  Leslie shared insights on the childhood mental health crisis and the impact of trauma-informed therapy.

A special thank-you to the Downingtown Area Chamber of Commerce for organizing this event, the Chester County United Way for sponsoring, and R Five Wines and Sweet Amelia’s for providing the delicious food, wine, and warm atmosphere that made the evening so meaningful.

Designer Bag Bingo – October 22

Our Designer Bag Bingo was a night to remember! Over 160 people gathered at Raymour & Flanigan Outlet to support A Child’s Light while enjoying an evening of fun and philanthropy.
Thank you to the Women’s Business Connection of Chester County for hosting, and to Raymour & Flanigan for their generous $500 donation. Every bag, every game, and every laugh that night helped fund trauma therapy for local children.

Yoga in the Park – October 26

Thank you to Kim Wolff of Optimal Massage & Movement and To Love A Canine Rescue for partnering with us to host Yoga in the Park. It was the perfect way to relax, reflect, and support children’s mental health through movement and mindfulness.

Impact Story

The Transformative Power of Trauma Informed Therapy

Every year on World Mental Health Day, we’re reminded that mental health is health. This year, we shared photos of a young boy’s drawings before and after trauma-informed therapy — a powerful visual of how healing changes lives.  These paintings were created by a 7-year old boy who had been a victim of sexual assault at the hands of a close family member.  The first painting was made upon arrival at his therapy session.  The second , upon his departure – after just 50 minutes of trauma-informed support.

THE DIFFERENCE IS STUNNING!

This is more than art, it is the visible relief of a child finally finding a space where his pain is understood and his healing is beginning.  Every child who has experienced trauma deserves access to long-term, private, trauma informed therapy after experiencing life altering trauma.  It is not a luxury.  It is a necessity.

Together we can ensure that no child suffers in silence and make healing possible!
